- 1Combine all ingredients in a pot on the stove top over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer for 15 minutes.
- 2Remove lentils from the heat while they still have a little bite to them, as opposed to being mushy. Adjust salt and pepper, and discard cloves, bay leaf and onion.
- 3Serve hot as a side dish or cold as a salad with dressing, red onion and additional herbs.
